Sagunto (Sagunt in Valencian) is a historic city 25 kilometres north of Valencia on the Mediterranean coast, famous for one of the most dramatic episodes in ancient history: the city's Iberian and later Carthaginian inhabitants chose death over surrender to Rome in 219 BC, an event that triggered the Second Punic War. The spectacular ruins of the castle-theatre complex that crowns the hilltop overlook the coastal plain, the medieval Jewish quarter of the old town, and the lower Roman town. The city also has a steelworks port district and industrial heritage along the coast. Valencia is 25 minutes south and Castellón de la Plana is 45 minutes north.
Credit card or deposit
Most rentals require a credit card for the security hold. Debit cards are accepted on no-deposit rates — select that option when searching on the site.
