Cullera is a coastal town on the Valencia coast where the Júcar river meets the Mediterranean, dominated by a Moorish castle on the hill above town with sweeping views over the rice paddies and the sea. The beaches are long and varied — from the main town beach to the quieter sandy coves at the base of the castle hill. Cullera sits at the heart of the rice-growing region that gave the world paella, and rice dishes here are a local speciality. Valencia is 45 kilometres north on the A-7, Gandia is 30 kilometres south, and Alicante is 90 kilometres further.
Credit card or deposit
Most rentals require a credit card for the security hold. Debit cards are accepted on no-deposit rates — select that option when searching on the site.
Before you drive away, check
Paid parking applies along the main beach and town seafront in summer. Free spaces are easier to find in the streets around the castle base and in the town's residential quarters. A car park near the river mouth serves the southern beaches.
The A-7 motorway connects Cullera to Valencia in about 40 minutes north and Gandia in 25 minutes south. Alicante is one hour 20 minutes south. The road up to the castle gives spectacular views and is fine for normal cars. Petrol stations on the A-7 and the N-332.
