1. Who We Are

2. What Data We Collect
- Usage data. When you visit the site, our server logs your IP address, browser type, referring URL and pages visited. Retained up to 30 days for security and performance purposes.
- Analytics cookies. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate traffic patterns. GA4 collects anonymised data: page views, session duration, approximate geographic region. No personally identifiable information is sent to Google.
- Affiliate links. When you click through to a car hire supplier (Localrent, EconomyBookings), those third-party sites operate under their own privacy policies. We receive an affiliate commission if you complete a booking.
- Contact enquiries. If you email us, we retain your email address and message content solely to respond to your enquiry.
3. Legal Basis for Processing
We process personal data under the GDPR (Regulation EU 2016/679) and the Spanish Organic Law 3/2018 on Data Protection (LOPD-GDD):
- Legitimate interests - server logs and security monitoring (Art. 6.1.f GDPR).
- Consent - analytics cookies. You may withdraw consent at any time via your browser cookie settings.
- Contract / pre-contractual steps - handling booking-related enquiries.
4. Cookies
- _ga, _ga_*, _gid - Google Analytics 4. Expiry: 2 years / 24 hours. Purpose: aggregate traffic measurement.
- wordpress_*, wp-settings-* - WordPress functional cookies, active only when logged in to the admin area.
You can disable non-essential cookies at any time. Doing so does not affect your ability to use the site.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell personal data. We share data only with:
- Google LLC - analytics (data processed in the US under Standard Contractual Clauses).
- Our hosting provider - server infrastructure in the EU.
6. Your Rights
Under the GDPR and LOPD-GDD you have the right to:
- Access personal data we hold about you.
- Rectify inaccurate data.
- Erasure (right to be forgotten) where processing is no longer justified.
- Restriction of processing.
- Data portability.
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior lawful processing.
To exercise any right, email info@carhire-es.com. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Spanish data protection authority: Agencia Espanola de Proteccion de Datos (AEPD) - www.aepd.es.
7. Data Retention
Server logs: 30 days. Analytics: 14 months (GA4 default). Email correspondence: deleted within 12 months of resolving the enquiry.
8. Children
This site is not directed at children under 14. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. The date below reflects the most recent revision.
