Santa Eulalia (Santa Eulària des Riu) sits on the eastern side of Ibiza, about 18 km from the airport and the second-largest town on the island after Ibiza Town. The promenade and the marina are walkable, but the surrounding municipality has a long coastline of beaches and coves spread out over many kilometres. That spread is where car rental in Santa Eulalia earns its place - the local bus runs less often at weekends, and a car reaches the quieter coves without waiting on a timetable.
Payment and deposit
When you book you pay only a small upfront amount - usually 15-20% of the hire cost. The rest is settled at the desk on pickup. The deposit in most cases is fully refundable, and about a third of cars in Spain are handed over with no deposit at all - those are marked in the results. If you only have a debit card, pick a no-deposit rate or a cash-deposit option: nothing gets frozen on your card.
Most drives from here are short. Cala Llonga is about 6 km south, with Es Canar and the Wednesday hippy market at Punta Arabí just up the coast. The village of Sant Carles, the dahlia market and the black sand of Cala Boix sit roughly 6 to 10 km north, and the craft village of Santa Gertrudis is around 12 km inland.
Ibiza Town and the old town of Dalt Vila are about 16 km south, roughly half an hour by road. San Antonio, on the far west coast, is around 24 km across the island. The wider island.
Quick checks at pickup
You can collect in town or have the car waiting at Ibiza Airport (IBZ) when you land. The airport is about a 25-minute drive south and tends to carry the cheapest rates and the widest choice of cars. Centauro is one of the suppliers operating on the island, with collection by shuttle from a branch close to the airport.
In town, park in the public areas around the marina and the back streets rather than on the seafront in high season, when spaces near the promenade fill fast. Roads across Ibiza are toll-free, so getting around costs only fuel.
May, June, September and early October are the easiest stretch - warm, with quieter roads and lower rates than the July and August peak, when prices climb and automatics and 7-seaters go first. Rental costs on the island tend to bottom out in September, well below the June average, so a late-season trip is the cheapest way to drive here. In high season, traffic builds around 08:00 to 09:30 and again 18:00 to 19:00, so plan beach runs outside those windows. Book two to three weeks ahead for the best price, especially for an automatic.

Many visitors pick the car up at the airport on arrival, as rates there are usually the cheapest, then drive straight to Santa Eulalia.
A credit card is not always required - it is needed to hold the security deposit. At pickup the supplier freezes the deposit amount on the card: the money is not charged and is released when you return the car undamaged.
