Sueca is a town in the Ribera Baixa comarca of Valencia province, 35 kilometres south of Valencia, set among the rice paddies that border the Albufera natural park — one of the largest coastal lagoons in Spain. Sueca is the undisputed capital of Spanish rice culture: it has hosted the prestigious Concurs Internacional de Paella Valenciana (International Valencian Paella Contest) since 1961, and the cultivation of rice here dates back to the Moorish era. The Albufera lake, with its fishing boats, migrating birds, and traditional barraca huts, is immediately east of the town. Cullera and its beach and castle are 10 kilometres north; Valencia city is 35 minutes north.
Credit card or deposit
Most rentals require a credit card for the security hold. Debit cards are accepted on no-deposit rates — select that option when searching on the site.
