Pineda de Mar is a small coastal resort town on the Maresme coast of Catalonia, 55 kilometres northeast of Barcelona and just 4 kilometres south of Calella. The town has a pleasant seafront with a long sandy beach backed by a palm-lined promenade, a compact resort centre with hotels and restaurants, and a quieter, more residential character than the larger Calella next door. Pineda de Mar is served by the suburban Rodalies train line R1, which connects directly to Barcelona in about one hour, making it popular with visitors who want a beach base with easy city access. The entrance to the Costa Brava at Blanes is 12 kilometres north.

The C-32 motorway is 5 minutes west: Calella is 5 minutes north, Barcelona is 50 minutes south. Blanes (Costa Brava) is 12 km north. Lloret de Mar is 20 km north via the coastal road or C-32. Petrol stations on the N-II and C-32.
