No-deposit options
About a third of cars in Spain come with no deposit hold at pickup - look for the "No deposit" badge.
Full insurance
Zero-excess cover available on most cars - nothing taken from the deposit if something happens.
Airport & city pickup
Desks at the airport and in the city centre.
Free cancellation
Cancel free on most bookings, often up to 48 hours before pickup.
Most driving here is short hops to the west-coast coves plus the run to Ibiza Town. Pick by group size and how many beach days you have planned.
Economy
Cheapest to run and easiest to slot into San Antonio's narrow streets and free car parks.
Automatic
Easier in summer town traffic. Automatics are limited on the island, so book early.
7-seater & van
For families or two couples sharing, with room for beach gear and the airport run.
Luxury
A convertible suits the coast road to Cala Conta. Deposits run higher on premium groups.
San Antonio's main beach, the promenade and the sunset bars are all walkable, and the bus station sits a five-minute walk from the sand. So you do not need a car to enjoy the town itself. The value of car rental in San Antonio is the rest of the west coast: the coves south of the resort that the buses serve slowly or not at all.
Public transport on Ibiza is thin outside the main routes, so a hire car replaces an unpredictable bus timetable with your own schedule. That is the real reason most visitors rent here.
Payment and deposit
When you book you pay only a small upfront amount - usually 15-20% of the hire cost. The rest is settled at the desk on pickup. The deposit in most cases is fully refundable, and about a third of cars in Spain are handed over with no deposit at all - those are marked in the results. If you only have a debit card, pick a no-deposit rate or a cash-deposit option: nothing gets frozen on your card.
The best beaches near the resort sit just to the west. Cala Bassa is about 15 minutes' drive from San Antonio, and Cala Conta is a similar distance a little further along the same coast. Cala Bassa and Cala Conta are 8 to 10 km west of town, both backed by pine rather than hotels.
Heading inland, Ibiza Town is about 15 km and a 25-minute drive on the C-731. Santa Eulalia on the east coast is roughly 30 minutes. The whole island is small - less than 30 miles long and 12 miles wide - so almost anywhere is a day trip and you are back the same evening. Each of these places.
Short drives from San Antonio
Most car hire on the island starts at Ibiza Airport (IBZ), about 20 to 22 km from San Antonio, roughly a 25 to 30 minute drive on the C-731. To collect in the resort instead, the area around Playa es Pouet has both local and international brands offering rental outlets not far from the beach. Centauro is one of the established names with desks on the island.
For parking in town, there is free parking on Avinguda d'Isidor Macabich, Carrer de la Soledat and Carrer de Catalunya. The streets in the centre are narrow and one-way, so the free car parks at the edge of the resort are the easier option in summer.
Ibiza has no environmental or low-emission zones requiring vehicle badges, so there is none of the ZBE paperwork you get in Barcelona or Madrid. Your only real caution is summer congestion: the port road in San Antonio jams in the morning and early evening, so time your beach runs around it.
May, June, September and early October are the easiest months to drive here - warm, with the sea still good for swimming and the roads quieter than peak. July and August are the busiest: prices climb, automatics and 7-seaters go first, and the west-coast beaches fill before midday, so book several weeks ahead and arrive early at the coves. Winter is the cheapest stretch, though many beach bars close and a car is mainly for the quieter inland villages then.
About 20 to 22 km, a 25 to 30 minute drive on the C-731. Most hire cars are collected at Ibiza Airport (IBZ) and driven straight over, though some suppliers also have desks in the resort near Playa es Pouet.
No. Ibiza has no low-emission zone or ZBE requiring a vehicle badge, so your hire car can drive into San Antonio and anywhere on the island without extra paperwork. The main summer issue is congestion on the port road, not access rules.
A credit card is not always required - it is needed to hold the security deposit. At pickup the supplier freezes the deposit amount on the card: the money is not charged and is released when you return the car undamaged.
Without a credit card you still have options: choose a cash-payment rate (the «Cash» filter option) or a no-deposit rate, and nothing is held.
The deposit is an amount the rental company holds as a guarantee for the car. Road fines or damage can be deducted from it.
If the car comes back without problems, the deposit is released in full. It is a temporary hold on your card, not a charge.
It depends on the car class and the supplier - you can see the exact amount on each car's card.
You can set a maximum deposit in the filter and the catalogue shows only matching offers. The lower you set it, the fewer cars remain.
Yes. To see cars with no deposit, use the «No deposit» filter option. There are also cars with a small deposit or cash payment.
Note that "no deposit" means no hold at pickup, not no booking payment - a small upfront amount is still taken when you book. If nothing suits, contact our support team.
The deposit is the amount frozen on your card at pickup and released when you return the car undamaged.
The excess is the part of any damage you pay yourself even with insurance - anything above it is covered by the insurer.
In practice, damage is taken from the deposit up to the excess, so the deposit is often set to match it. A full, zero-excess policy removes both: you do not pay for damage and the hold is usually waived.
Cover comes in levels:
You see the available rates on each car's card when booking.
If you would rather not depend on the deposit and excess, choose the full rate.
Yes, some cars can be paid in cash - use the «Cash» filter option.
You pay a small upfront amount by debit or credit card when booking (usually 15-20% of the total), and the rest in cash at pickup.
Yes, paying for the car with cryptocurrency is possible - contact our support team to arrange it.
Taking the car by ferry to Formentera, Mallorca or other islands must be agreed with the supplier in advance, and not all of them allow it.
It is often simpler to hire a separate car on the second island. If you plan a ferry, check the terms with our support team.
Yes. In the search, set a pick-up and a drop-off point - for example collect in San Antonio and return in Ibiza Town or at Ibiza Airport.
By default the car is returned to the same place you collected it.
Most are manual, as across the island. Automatics cost more and sell out first in summer, so book one early if you want it - it makes the town's narrow one-way streets and peak traffic easier.
You need a passport, a driving licence and the rental voucher - the voucher can be shown on your phone or tablet.
It states the final price with your chosen options and insurance, so the amount due at the desk will not change.
To hire through our rental companies you need at least 2 years of driving experience.
