Guadalajara (Spain) is the capital of its namesake province in the Alcarria region of Castile-La Mancha, 60 kilometres east of Madrid. The city's showpiece is the Palacio del Infantado — a late Gothic Mudéjar palace with one of the most elaborate stone façades in Spain, considered a masterpiece of Spanish civil architecture. The surrounding Alcarria countryside, immortalised by Nobel laureate Camilo José Cela in his book Viaje a la Alcarria, offers honey, lavender fields, and medieval towns. Madrid is 45 minutes west on the A-2 motorway, which makes Guadalajara a feasible day trip from the capital, though staying overnight rewards with a much calmer experience.
Credit card or deposit
Most rentals require a credit card for the security hold. Debit cards are accepted on no-deposit rates — select that option when searching on the site.
